Jordanian Monarch and Indonesian President Emphasize the Importance of Supporting the Palestinian Cause and Achieving Stability

SadaNews - On Wednesday, Jordan's King Abdullah II received Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who arrived in Amman on Tuesday evening.

The Jordanian monarch and the Indonesian president held discussions at the Basman Palace, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, focusing on the developments in the region, the relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance them in various fields, in addition to achieving regional stability.

King Abdullah II praised Indonesia's role regarding the challenges facing the region, particularly its support for achieving peace based on the two-state solution and its commitment to protecting Palestinians in Gaza, expressing his anticipation to discuss ways to cooperate in this framework.

The Jordanian monarch commended President Subianto's political stature and Indonesia's economic strength, along with its projects in the region as two essential factors for building upon for joint work.

For his part, the Indonesian president expressed his gratitude to the Jordanian monarch for the warm hospitality and reception.

He reaffirmed his country’s commitment to working towards lasting peace based on the two-state solution, emphasizing that it is the only solution for achieving stability in the region, and expressing his country’s support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The Indonesian president reiterated his country's support for implementing the agreement to end the war in Gaza and thanked Jordan for its role in this regard.

He spoke about the developments in the West Bank, warning of the dangerous impact of the escalation on the region, especially efforts to restore stability in Gaza.

The discussions covered the strong relations between Jordan and Indonesia, which have extended for over 75 years, and the desire to elevate political and economic relations, as well as defense cooperation, and in promising fields such as business and investment, energy, science and technology, and health.

The two leaders reviewed the outcomes of King Abdullah II's visit to Indonesia last November and ways to build on its results.

The discussions addressed the situation in the Palestinian territories, where the Jordanian monarch reaffirmed his rejection of Israeli escalatory measures aimed at expanding settlements and controlling lands in the West Bank, warning against the continued violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

He emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic channels in reducing tensions related to Iran and the necessity of supporting the efforts of Syria and Lebanon in maintaining their security, stability, and sovereignty.
