American Official: Trump to Visit China from March 31 to April 2

SadaNews - An official at the White House stated on Friday that U.S. President Donald Trump will visit China from March 31 to April 2, setting the stage for a highly anticipated meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, amidst tensions between the world's two largest economies.

The official expected that Trump would meet with Xi during his lengthy visit, as both sides consider extending a trade truce that halted the escalation of tariffs. The official refused to disclose his name while discussing the details that have not been announced.

Trump told foreign leaders on Thursday about his upcoming visit to China, stating it would be "an extremely exciting visit. We have to put on the biggest show China has ever seen in its history."

This visit will mark the first discussions between the two leaders since February, and the first in-person meeting since October when they met in South Korea, where Trump agreed to reduce tariffs on China in exchange for Beijing tightening its crackdown on illegal fentanyl trade and resuming soybean purchases from the U.S., while ensuring the continued flow of rare earth mineral exports.

While the October meeting largely avoided the sensitive issue concerning Taiwan, Xi raised the topic of U.S. arms sales to the island in February.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that he discussed many important issues during a phone call with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

Washington announced in December the largest arms sale ever to Taiwan, including weapons worth $11.1 billion that could be used for defense against a Chinese attack. Taiwan expects more of such sales.

Important Issues

In early February, Trump stated that he discussed many important issues with his Chinese counterpart during a phone call, including trade, military matters, Taiwan, and his upcoming visit to Beijing in April.

Trump explained via the TRUTH SOCIAL platform: "I just had an excellent call with Xi… It was a long and detailed call where we discussed many important issues, including trade, military matters, the visit I'll be making to China in April (which I'm looking forward to very much), and Taiwan."

He added that he also discussed with his Chinese counterpart
