EU Condemns Israel's Decision Against al-Maqdis Center Association
SadaNews - The diplomatic missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah, affiliated with the European Union, deemed Israel's closure of the al-Maqdis Community Center Association in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem as deeply concerning, further restricting the Palestinian civil and cultural space in East Jerusalem.
Israel had decided to close the association's headquarters for 6 months.
The statement said: For decades, the center has provided vital educational, cultural, and sports programs, especially for children and youth.
The statement added, according to SadaNews translation: This decision threatens to undermine the essential work of independent Palestinian civil society organizations in East Jerusalem.
The statement called on the Israeli authorities to preserve the civil space, ensure continued access to essential social and cultural services in East Jerusalem, and allow the al-Maqdis Community Center to resume its activities without delay.
