Jordan Condemns Israeli Decisions Aimed at Solidifying Annexation Efforts in the West Bank
SadaNews - The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has strongly condemned the illegal Israeli decisions and actions approved by the Israeli government aimed at imposing illegal Israeli sovereignty, solidifying settlement, and establishing a new legal and administrative reality in the occupied West Bank, which constitutes a blatant violation of international law and undermines the two-state solution, as well as an assault on the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent sovereign state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital, affirming that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian land.
The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Fouad Ma’jani, confirmed the Kingdom's absolute rejection and condemnation of these unilateral, illegal, and void Israeli decisions and actions in the occupied West Bank, which constitute a clear violation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions, especially resolution 2334, which condemns all Israeli actions aimed at changing the demographic composition and character and status of the Palestinian land occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem. This is in addition to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which affirmed the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation and the nullification of the annexation of the occupied Palestinian territories.
Ma’jani warned against the continuation of the extremist Israeli government's expansionist policy and its illegal and illegitimate actions in the occupied West Bank, which encourage the persistence of cycles of violence and conflict in the region.
Ma’jani reiterated the call for the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and to compel Israel and its extremist government to halt its dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank and the provocative statements of its officials, and to fulfill the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national soil as the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security and stability in the region.
