The Central Election Commission Integrates Persons with Disabilities into Electoral Awareness Campaigns

SadaNews - The Central Election Commission has confirmed that persons with disabilities represent a crucial part of the electoral process, and empowering them to exercise their democratic rights is a priority in its efforts to ensure inclusive and fair elections.

The Commission stated that targeting persons with disabilities in its awareness efforts reflects its practical commitment to the principle of equal opportunities and enhancing democratic participation for all, without discrimination or exclusion of any community group.

It added that since the preparations for the 2026 local elections began, it has ensured that the awareness and outreach campaign includes all community groups in their various locations, with special attention given to persons with disabilities. This focus includes providing diverse content and multiple communication methods to ensure that electoral messages effectively reach all citizens.

The Commission noted that the awareness campaign for the new electoral law includes the preparation of simplified materials, accessible digital content, videos in sign language, as well as providing information in written format in Braille. These measures aim to remove any barriers to understanding the electoral process and to enable every citizen to make their electoral decisions based on accurate and complete information.

The Commission clarified that these efforts are part of a strategic vision to enhance a culture of inclusivity and transparency in elections, and to emphasize that every vote carries significant value, reinforcing citizens' commitment to their electoral rights, ensuring free and fair elections that reflect the will of the Palestinian community in all its spectrums.

The Central Election Commission is working to implement the local elections scheduled for April 25, 2026, according to the timeline established by law and the Cabinet's decision, having completed the registration phase and launched the publishing and objection phase, which ends tomorrow, Monday, while the process of receiving candidacy applications will begin on February 23 of this month.
