The President Expresses His Gratitude for Saudi Arabia and Turkey's Positions on the Palestinian Cause
SadaNews - The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the joint Saudi-Turkish statement issued at the conclusion of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The statement affirmed the positions of the two brotherly countries regarding the Palestinian cause, the necessity of solidifying the ceasefire, ending the occupation of Gaza, enabling the Palestinian National Authority to resume its responsibilities in the sector, completely ending the occupation, and ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative of 2002.
He also welcomed the brothers in Saudi Arabia and Turkey's affirmation of the important role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in providing essential services to the Palestinian people.
The president praised the honorable and principled positions of both Saudi Arabia and Turkey in supporting international law, international legitimacy, and the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and independence.
