Occupation vows "harsh response" to officer's injury in northern Gaza
SadaNews - Israel's Southern Command has indicated that it is "preparing to target military sites in Gaza in response to the injury of an officer" as reported by Yedioth Ahronoth.
The Israeli news site Walla stated that the "political level in Israel will approve a harsh military response to the injury of the officer in Gaza".
The Israeli occupation forces stated that "an officer was seriously injured on Wednesday after gunmen fired at an Israeli force near the ‘yellow line’ in northern Gaza". Israeli media confirmed that "Tel Aviv will respond harshly".
The statement from the Israeli army added that artillery shelling and airstrikes were carried out on areas in the Gaza Strip in response to the targeting of its forces in the northern sector. It considered that the targeting of its forces constitutes a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Earlier, sources in Gaza hospitals reported the deaths of 9 martyrs and injuries to others due to the occupation's fire in the cities of Gaza and Khan Yunis early Wednesday, resulting from the shelling carried out by the occupying army on Gaza.
An emergency and ambulance source reported the martyrdom of 6 Palestinians, including two children, due to the occupation's artillery shelling early Wednesday on the neighborhoods of Al-Zeitoun and Al-Tuffah in eastern Gaza City.
Additionally, the Nasser Medical Complex reported the martyrdom of 3 Palestinians, one of whom was a child, from Israeli shelling early Wednesday on tents of displaced persons outside areas under occupation in southern Khan Yunis.
Since the agreement came into effect, 526 Palestinians have been martyred by the bullets of the occupation army, and 1,447 others have been injured as part of its daily violations of the agreement, according to official data.
