Ma'ariv: Israel Faces Three Scenarios in Gaza
SadaNews - The Hebrew newspaper Ma'ariv revealed that the Israeli leadership is considering three potential scenarios to deal with the current situation in the Gaza Strip, amid the ongoing political and military stalemate.
The first scenario involves a return to full-scale war and breaking existing rules, through a prolonged military operation that may last up to a year, ending with the destruction of Hamas. However, according to the newspaper, this option would annihilate what remains of the necessities of life in the sector and thwart any future reconstruction efforts.
The second scenario is based on accepting the American plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, which means coexisting with Hamas, albeit with limited capacity. This option is seen by some as less costly but imposes on Israel the need to deal with a complex political and security reality.
The third scenario, described by the newspaper as the preferred one for Israel, involves establishing an intermediary status through negotiations characterized by procrastination, allowing for continued localized fighting akin to the existing model in Southern Lebanon. This option grants Israel the ability to manage the conflict without entering into a comprehensive confrontation or making significant concessions.
