Hebrew Channel: Israel Will Set Up a Checkpoint Near Rafah Crossing
Translation by SadaNews - Hebrew channel Reshet Kan mentioned this Thursday evening that a security checkpoint for Israel will be established near the Rafah crossing, which will soon open as part of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.
The channel, as translated by SadaNews, indicated that additional inspections will be conducted at the point the channel referred to as "Rafah Crossing 2" to prevent the smuggling of any goods, as well as to prevent any infiltration operations.
It noted that the Rafah crossing will be fully operational within 48 hours, as expected, and that it will be managed by a delegation from the European Union, along with elements from Palestinian intelligence.
A list of names of those entering the Gaza Strip from the EU team will be sent to Israel, where it will be reviewed by the Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency), and those entering will be subjected to remote Israeli checks, which will include personal photos, identity cards, biometric scans, and thorough inspections.
The channel quoted a senior Palestinian source as saying: "Some members of Hamas's military wing who left the Gaza Strip for medical treatment will be able to return through the crossing without Israel being able to prevent that."
