Hamas Condemns Netanyahu's Inclusion in the "Peace Council"
SadaNews - Today, Thursday, the Hamas Movement expressed its strong condemnation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's inclusion in the "Peace Council" concerning Gaza, describing it as a "dangerous indicator that contradicts the principles of justice and accountability."
Hamas stated, in a statement, that Netanyahu "continues to obstruct the ceasefire agreement for Gaza, and commits the most heinous violations by targeting unarmed civilians, destroying neighborhoods and public facilities, and attacking shelters, despite the ceasefire announcement being in effect for more than three months."
The movement emphasized that the first steps towards establishing stability lie in "stopping the occupation's violations and permanently ending it, and holding accountable all those responsible for genocide and the systematic policy of starvation."
Yesterday, Wednesday, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office stated that Netanyahu accepted U.S. President Donald Trump's invitation to join the "Peace Council," which is an initiative aimed primarily at ending the conflict in Gaza, but could later be expanded to address conflicts elsewhere.
Trump signed the "Peace Council" charter today in Davos, in the presence of several world leaders. The White House announced that the council has now become an "active international organization," and that the charter has come into force.
