Palestinian Ambassador in Tehran Hospitalized After Attack on Residence
SadaNews - The Palestinian ambassador in Tehran, Salam Al-Zawawi, was transferred to the hospital after her residence was attacked by a group of protesters during recent unrest in the Iranian capital.
Media reports, including the "Asr Iran" website, indicated that the incident occurred on Thursday, January 8, in conjunction with violent protests in the streets of Tehran.
Sources reported that about 200 protesters stormed the ambassador's residence, using Molotov cocktails and threatening shouts.
The sources added that the protesters managed to enter the building, resulting in the ambassador and several embassy staff suffering from suffocation and injuries. The ambassador was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The report mentioned that some family members of the ambassador and some staff had to seek refuge in the basement until security forces arrived, who later intervened to rescue them and deal with the attackers.
According to the "Asr Iran" news site, significant damage was inflicted on the residence building due to the clashes and fire, according to the reports.
