Occupation announces thwarting of a smuggling attempt of more than 12 million shekels via the Karama crossing

SadaNews - The Israeli occupation police announced today, Sunday, that they thwarted an attempt to smuggle large sums of money through the Karama (Allenby) crossing, during a joint operation carried out by Israeli security forces. The police stated that two individuals were arrested on suspicion of trying to smuggle bags containing more than 12 million shekels, according to a translation by SadaNews citing Hebrew media.

"According to the Israeli narrative, the operation was based on intelligence information provided by the military intelligence division, where prior coordination was made between several parties, including crossing inspectors, military forces, border police, and customs authority, which led to the arrest of the suspects and the confiscation of the money," as translated by SadaNews.

The detainees were transferred to the central unit of the border police in the West Bank for interrogation, before the court decided to extend their detention period.

The police claimed that the confiscated money is suspected of being allocated to fund "terrorist organizations," as described, indicating that this operation is part of what it described as a broader campaign targeting funding sources.

In this context, Israeli media reported the regional border police commander saying that security forces continue what he termed "working to cut off funding sources," adding that the confiscation of these funds falls within a series of similar operations recently carried out in various areas of the West Bank, as translated by SadaNews.
