Woman Killed and Injuries in Kharkiv with Widespread Power Outages in Ukraine
SadaNews - A woman was killed and others injured due to Russian strikes targeting the cities of Kharkiv and Sumy in northeastern Ukraine, while areas controlled by Russia in the southeastern part of the country experienced widespread power outages due to attacks by Ukrainian drones.
The Mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, stated via Telegram that a woman was killed as a result of a drone strike on a house, while the head of the local military administration, Oleg Synegubov, noted that the victim was a 20-year-old young woman.
In Sumy, emergency services reported that an aerial strike targeted a residential area, resulting in injuries to 4 people, including a 7-year-old child, and caused damage to 15 buildings.
Russia has been conducting daily strikes on Ukraine for nearly four years, and recent attacks have severely damaged the Ukrainian power grid, leading to outages in electricity and heating during extreme cold snaps.
In southeastern Ukraine, Russian-appointed authorities announced that attacks by Ukrainian drones caused power outages in wide areas of Zaporizhia and Kherson, confirming that generators are ensuring the operation of vital facilities such as hospitals and water supplies. Officials warned against penalties for those who disseminate footage showing the use of air defense systems or the effects of the strikes.
In a political context, a Ukrainian delegation arrived in the United States to hold talks with American officials regarding Washington's plan to end the war, amid difficulty in making tangible progress in President Donald Trump's efforts to resolve the conflict.
