Hebrew Channel: Dispute Between the Shin Bet Chief and Ben Gvir Over Ali Shaath, Head of the Technocrat Committee
SadaNews Translation - Channel 12 revealed this Wednesday evening that the head of the Shin Bet security service, David Zini, informed ministers of the security cabinet yesterday that he had received the names of figures proposed to form the Gaza management committee and that he approved them after conducting security checks.
According to the channel, as translated by SadaNews, Zini assured the ministers that all members of the committee are neither from Hamas nor from the Palestinian Authority.
Meanwhile, a dispute arose between him and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir over the name of Ali Shaath, the head of the committee, as Ben Gvir claimed that Shaath had been an official in the Palestinian Authority during the era of Yasser Arafat.
Zini responded by affirming that Shaath meets the necessary criteria to be the head of the committee.
In response, Ben Gvir's office stated that the minister has the right to protest and hold the necessary discussions, clarifying that what occurred was not a confrontation, and that he greatly appreciates the current head of the Shin Bet and sees him as the best for his position.
According to the channel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the ministers that Israel would insist on dismantling Hamas and disarming it in Gaza, and that the Americans agree with him on these goals.
