Israel Currently Sees No Iranian Readiness to Attack

SadaNews - The political and security levels in Israel held ongoing discussions at the end of last week to monitor the situation in Iran amidst protests against the regime, in an attempt to understand the state of affairs and anticipate subsequent developments. Security officials in these discussions stated that "the Iranian regime shows signs of distress, and there is significant fear within the regime regarding its stability," and that "at this stage, no immediate Iranian readiness to attack Israel has been detected," as reported by Israeli Army Radio today, Sunday. The radio added that Israeli estimates indicate that around 300,000 people are protesting in the streets across Iran, and that these protests are larger than those that erupted in Iran following the death of young Iranian of Kurdish descent, Mahsa Amini, in 2022, and are similar to the protests that erupted due to the economic situation in 2018. According to Israeli estimates, there are dozens of casualties due to security forces opening fire in the streets, and that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps is involved, "but not fully," and that militias from outside Iran, particularly Iraqi militias, are participating in operations against the demonstrators, according to the radio. Israeli security officials during the discussions indicated that "the Iranian regime has not lost control, and it can suppress the demonstrations more violently, but it is not currently executing a harsher crackdown." They added that Israel observed a significant increase in protests last Thursday evening, considering that "the Iranian regime did not expect such an escalation, from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands." According to the assessments presented by Israeli security officials to the political level, "the Iranian regime shows signs of distress and fear for its stability," and they considered that "this protest certainly threatens the regime. Evidence of this is the internet shutdown that prevents the establishment of a reliable picture of the situation in Iran, and the regime's decision at this stage to refrain from deploying the Revolutionary Guard and exercising broader violence against demonstrators, despite having such capacity." During the discussions, the question arose about "whether and when there will be another escalation, and whether and when these events will affect Israel," and security officials noted that such readiness has not been detected in the immediate term, and that the regime is focusing on internal conditions. The radio added that Israeli estimates indicate that "the regime will escalate its operations against the protesters and they will be more violent, and alongside that, protests will escalate, and the statements of U.S. President Donald Trump will aid in that."
