Acting Venezuelan President: We Are Not Subject to the United States
SadaNews - Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez affirmed late Thursday to Friday that her country is "not subject" to the United States following the ousting of her predecessor Nicolás Maduro on January 3rd.
Rodríguez stated during a memorial ceremony for the victims killed during the American attack on Caracas, "We are not submissive or subjugated," mentioning "loyalty to President Nicolás Maduro who was kidnapped" and adding, "Here, no one has surrendered. Here, there has been fighting (...) fighting for this homeland." Official figures indicate that at least 100 people were killed during the attack.
Donald Trump had said that the United States "will manage the country until we can achieve a safe and proper transition of power." He later clarified, stating, "Time alone will determine" how long Washington intends to maintain control over Caracas. When asked whether he was referring to three months, six months, a year, or more, he replied, "I believe it will last much longer."
The U.S. president continued, "We will rebuild the country in a highly productive way... We will use oil and import it. We will lower oil prices and provide funds for Venezuela, which is in dire need of them."
