This stance reaffirms the statement issued on December 27, 2025, in which the foreign ministers expressed their categorical rejection of Israel's recognition of the region of "Somaliland," as it constitutes a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia, its national unity, and territorial integrity, and a clear undermining of established international norms and the principles of the United Nations Charter. The ministers emphasized that encouraging secessionist agendas is unacceptable and poses grave risks that could deepen tensions and destabilize a region already suffering from fragility and security and political challenges. They reiterated their steadfast and complete support for the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia, its national unity, and territorial integrity, while also valuing the commitment of the Somali government to peaceful international engagement, constructive diplomacy, and adherence to the provisions and principles of international law. The ministers stressed that respecting international law, refraining from interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign states, and adhering to diplomatic norms and rules are core pillars for achieving regional and international stability. In this context, they affirmed their commitment to continue supporting the diplomatic and legal measures taken by the Federal Republic of Somalia in defense of its sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and stability, in accordance with the provisions of international law. The ministers called on Israel to fully respect the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia, its national unity, and territorial integrity, to fulfill its obligations under international law, and to immediately retract this recognition.
