Al-Elemey: The Handing Over of Camps in Hadramaut and Al-Mahra Was Done Rapidly and Efficiently Beyond Expectations
SadaNews - The Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Elemey, stated that the process of handing over the camps in the Hadramaut and Al-Mahra governorates, in the east of the country, was conducted rapidly and efficiently, exceeding expectations, while the Governor of Hadramaut declared the state's victory after exerting control over the two governorates.
Al-Elemey congratulated the people of the two governorates on the success of the process, praising the responsible role of the local authorities in Hadramaut and Al-Mahra, and their wisdom in managing this phase and prioritizing the public interest, according to the official Yemeni news agency (Saba).
The Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council affirmed that restoring security and stability in the two governorates marks the beginning of a promising phase of development and reconstruction. He expressed confidence in the continued support from brothers and friends for infrastructure and service projects, and in creating investment opportunities and jobs that would directly benefit the citizens.
He pointed out that this success reflects the communities' support for the state and its institutions, laying the groundwork for a new phase of coexistence and improved living conditions, valuing the efforts of the Joint Forces of the Support Legitimacy Coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, in securing the operation, de-escalating tensions, and protecting civilians.
The Resumption of Airport Operations Approaches
These statements come just hours after the Governor of Hadramaut, Salem Al-Khanbashi, announced the restoration of full control over the territories of Hadramaut, following confrontations that resulted in the withdrawal of the Southern Transitional Council forces.
Al-Khanbashi confirmed, during a meeting with local authority leaders, the beginning of a new phase for managing the governorate based on consensus and coexistence among all its residents.
According to the official news agency, Al-Khanbashi indicated the imminent resumption of airport operations in the governorate and the end of the no-fly period, directing the formation of a committee to assess damages to public and private properties, as well as taking practical steps to accommodate the Hadrami Elite Forces and to care for the families of the martyrs and the wounded.
Al-Khanbashi emphasized that the political leadership has been keen from the beginning to avoid confrontation and that the withdrawal of some forces coincided with the movement of ground troops to ensure the stability of the governorate.
Field Developments
It is worth mentioning that the government forces, represented by the National Shield Forces, have asserted their control over all nine districts of Al-Mahra governorate, providing a safe route for the Transitional Council forces to exit the governorate towards the temporary capital, Aden. They also began receiving heavy weapons from them as part of arrangements aimed at preventing escalation and ensuring an organized transition of control.
In Hadramaut, local Yemeni sources earlier reported that forces from the Coast Guard and the National Shield Forces are currently deployed at the port of Mukalla, the capital of the governorate, with patrols operating in the city streets and checkpoints installed in some of its areas.
Recently, Hadramaut and Al-Mahra witnessed extensive confrontations between the Transitional Council forces - which seek to separate southern Yemen from the north - and the government forces supported by the Support Legitimacy Coalition, culminating in the government forces' control over the two governorates, after the Transitional Council had imposed its control over them in early December of last year.
