UAE Announces End of Anti-Terror Forces in Yemen
SadaNews - The UAE Ministry of Defence announced on Tuesday evening the conclusion of the remaining anti-terrorism teams in Yemen at its own discretion, ensuring the safety of its personnel and in coordination with relevant partners.
The ministry confirmed in a statement that this action comes as part of a comprehensive assessment of the requirements for this phase and aligns with the UAE's commitments and its role in supporting the security and stability of the region.
It noted that the Emirati armed forces completed their military presence in the Republic of Yemen in 2019 after fulfilling the specified missions within the agreed formal frameworks, while what remained of their presence was limited to specialized teams in the fight against terrorism and in coordination with relevant international partners.
It indicated that it has participated in the Arab coalition since 2015 in support of the legitimacy in Yemen, and to support international efforts in combating terrorist organizations, and to achieve the security and stability of the brotherly Yemen, with Emirati personnel making significant sacrifices to achieve these goals.
