Trump Again Signals 'Opening the Gates of Hell' in Gaza and Threatens Iran with Greater Escalation
SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump has escalated his rhetoric against Hamas and Iran, once again threatening to "open the gates of hell" if Hamas does not disarm "within a short time," warning also of a response "stronger than before" if Tehran continues to rebuild its nuclear capabilities. This was stated at the conclusion of his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
In a press conference following the meeting, Trump said that "significant days" could be near, adding: "There may be surprises in the next couple of days." He mentioned that Hamas not disarming "would be horrific for them," emphasizing that "it will not be possible to blame Israel then."
Trump renewed his direct threats, saying: "If Hamas does not disarm within a short time, the gates of hell will be opened," warning that "the countries he has secured will intervene to eradicate them," as he expressed.
He also revisited the issue of displacing residents of the Gaza Strip, considering that "migration will happen if conditions are met." He noted: "I have always said that if they are given the opportunity, they will migrate," indicating that polls show that "more than half of Gaza's population will leave the strip if allowed," adding: "I think the percentage may be even higher."
Trump acknowledged the existence of differences with Netanyahu regarding the West Bank, but he said: "I can't say we agree 100%, but we will reach understandings." He added: "I don't want to get into this now, but he will do the right thing; I know him."
Regarding Syria, Trump indicated that there are "understandings" with Netanyahu, noting that Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara is a "strong person that Syria needs at this stage." He stated: "We had a problem with ISIS, and he helped us. I hope things go well between Syria and my administration."
He also emphasized that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, whom he described as a close friend, "has provided great assistance in dealing with the chaos in Syria," adding: "Erdoğan deserves appreciation, and Bibi knows that."
Netanyahu, in response to a question regarding the Syrian issue prompted by Trump, said Israel seeks to establish "secure and quiet borders with Syria," emphasizing the necessity of establishing a "safe area free from terrorism and attacks" and ensuring the "security of Druze, Christians, and all minorities."
On the Iranian issue, Trump returned to direct threats, saying: "Iran may be behaving poorly, and they know what the consequences will be, which may be stronger than last time." He added: "I gave them a chance; I told them: make a deal. They didn't believe me. I hope they believe me now."
He confirmed that he "supports negotiations with Tehran" as he did before the recent war in June, but he emphasized at the same time that the U.S. "does not want to waste fuel on B2 bombers," referring to a military strike option if the Iranian nuclear program continues.
During the meeting with Netanyahu, and in a phone intervention by Israeli Education Minister Yoav Kisch, Netanyahu informed Trump of the decision to grant him the "Israel Prize" in recognition of what they termed his "special contribution to the Jewish people."
