Zamir Orders Reinforcement of Forces in Central Command and Imposition of a Seige and Curfew in Qabatiya
SadaNews - Israeli Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, has instructed the reinforcement of forces in the Central Command, alongside continuing offensive operations including the imposition of a siege and a curfew in Qabatiya, south of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, following the double operation that took place on Friday between Bisan and Afula, resulting in the death of an Israeli man and woman.
Zamir also directed the completion of the closure of the house of the attacker and to proceed with the preparations for its demolition, in addition to "improving intelligence-gathering capabilities in the area, whether for monitoring purposes or for quickly closing openings."
Zamir conducted an assessment of the situation the day after the double operation, with the participation of the Central Command leader, the commander of the "Judea and Samaria" division, the head of the Civil Administration, and the commander of the "Menashe" brigade, along with other leaders from the security agencies.
Zamir emphasized during the situation assessment the "necessity of systematic work to enhance coordination among various security agencies, and joint work to confront illegal infiltration, just as they deal with 'terrorism.'"
He considered that "the characteristics of this phase involve attackers acting alone and illegal residents," calling for "enhancing and improving law enforcement against their transporters and operators, in parallel with continuing to improve and develop capabilities to monitor and neutralize attackers."
Zamir stated that "our goal is clear: to continue curbing 'terrorism' and preventing it before it starts," adding that "the (double) operation highlights the army's responsibility to learn, draw lessons, and enhance the protection of Israeli citizens in Judea and Samaria (the occupied West Bank) and on all fronts."
The Israeli army stated in a statement on Saturday evening that "the forces carried out a technical survey of the attacker's home and worked on closing it, with plans to commence demolition later."
The Israeli forces have continued their aggression against Qabatiya for the second consecutive day, under a strict lockdown and a field interrogation campaign of dozens of Palestinians, enforced displacement, intense raids on homes, and converting some into military outposts amid infrastructure razing operations.
Occupation forces raided and searched several homes, interrogated dozens of Palestinians, and conducted field investigations with them.
Additionally, occupation machinery has razed several streets following the closure of most of the secondary entrances to the town with dirt barriers, preventing citizens from leaving or entering. Infrastructure has been destroyed, and electricity has been cut off in several neighborhoods in the town.
