Netanyahu Announces Official Recognition of the Republic of Somaliland as an Independent and Sovereign State
SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced today, Friday, the official recognition of the Republic of Somaliland (Somaliland) as an independent and sovereign state.
This was stated in a press release from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office today, indicating that Netanyahu "and the Foreign Minister signed a mutual joint declaration with the President of Somaliland," noting that "this declaration comes in the spirit of the 'Abraham Accords' that were signed at the initiative of President (American, Donald) Trump."
The statement mentioned that Netanyahu "congratulated the President of Somaliland, Abdurrahman Mohamed Abdullah, and praised his leadership and commitment to work for security, stability, and peace," indicating that he "invited the president (of Somaliland) for an official visit to Israel."
Furthermore, "the president thanked Netanyahu for his historic announcement and expressed great appreciation for the Prime Minister's efforts in combating terrorism and achieving regional peace," according to the statement.
Netanyahu also thanked Foreign Minister Gidon Saar, Mossad Director David Barnea, and the Mossad for their contributions to enhancing recognition between states and wished the people of Somaliland success, prosperity, and freedom.
In the same context, it was reported that "Israel intends to immediately expand its relations with the Republic of Somaliland through extensive cooperation in the fields of agriculture, health, technology, and the economy.
