OIC Holds Joint Celebration in Jeddah
SadaNews - A joint celebration was held at the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah on December 24, organized by the King Salman Global Center for the Arabic Language in collaboration with the OIC, with the presence of assistant secretaries-general of the OIC, permanent representatives of member states, the deputy secretary-general of the King Salman Global Center for the Arabic Language, and a number of experts and academics. Palestine was represented at this celebration by Ambassador Hadi Shukri, the permanent representative of the State of Palestine to the OIC.
The inaugural session witnessed speeches from the Secretary-General of the OIC, the Secretary-General of the King Salman Global Center for the Arabic Language, a representative of the host country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to a speech from the President of the fifteenth session of the Islamic Summit Conference from Gambia, and the current President of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states, the Republic of Turkey.
The speakers emphasized their pride in the Arabic language as the language of the Holy Quran, and one of the most prominent components of the identity and heritage of the Arab and Islamic nations, stressing the importance of organizing specialized courses and programs to enhance the use of the Arabic language in the diplomatic field, conducting a comprehensive assessment to measure its presence and usage within the framework of joint Islamic work, along with the necessity of taking collective responsibility to preserve the Arabic language through various initiatives and programs that ensure its effectiveness and status.
The celebration also included two main sessions; the first session was dedicated to discussing the reality of Arabic language education in Islamic countries, while the second session addressed the level of presence and use of the Arabic language in various fields within the Islamic countries.
