Israel Hosts Today the Leaders of Greece and Cyprus Amid Reports of Military Coordination
SadaNews - Tel Aviv is hosting today a tripartite summit scheduled to bring together Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides to discuss ways to enhance cooperation among the three countries in political, security, and economic fields, with a focus on energy issues and developments in the Eastern Mediterranean basin.
In this context, Israel denied reports in a Greek news website regarding an intention to form a joint military support force between Israel, Greece, and Cyprus aimed at countering Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean region, asserting that this information is inaccurate and does not reflect an official position.
On the other hand, the Hebrew website "Walla" reported that the Israeli political level informed the Israeli army of an intention to study the possibility of forming such a force and requested it to begin preliminary planning, without this meaning a final decision or practical commitment at this stage.
The anticipated summit comes amid ongoing regional tensions and competition for energy resources and routes in the Eastern Mediterranean, where the three parties repeatedly affirm their commitment to enhancing regional partnerships and maintaining stability, emphasizing that any future steps will be subject to in-depth political and security consultations.
