SadaNews - Washington, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, which are mediating the indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, have agreed to continue consultations in the coming weeks to advance the implementation of the second phase of President Donald Trump's plan regarding Gaza.
After talks held between the foreign ministers of the mentioned countries and the U.S. envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, in Miami, it was stated: "We reaffirm our full commitment to all provisions of Trump's peace plan for Gaza, and we call on the parties to fulfill their commitments."
For his part, Witkoff stated on Saturday, "We met with representatives of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey in Miami to review the implementation of the first phase of the Gaza agreement and the preparations for the second phase."
He pointed out that "the first phase made progress, including expanding the scope of aid, returning the bodies of hostages, and the partial withdrawal of Israeli forces."
Witkoff added, "We emphasized during discussions about the second phase the need to empower a governing body in the sector under a united authority from Gaza to protect civilians and public security. The participants confirmed support for the establishment and activation of a peace council as a transitional administration as soon as possible."
He continued, "The participants in the Miami meeting called on all parties to fulfill their commitments and exercise restraint," noting that consultations will continue in the coming weeks to advance the implementation of the second phase.
