Turkish Foreign Ministry: Miami Meeting Discussed Issues Related to the First and Second Phases of Gaza Agreement

SadaNews - Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Oncu Kucali stated that a meeting of officials from Turkey, the United States, Qatar, and Egypt regarding the Gaza Strip in Miami, USA, discussed issues related to the implementation of the first phase of the agreement that came into effect on October 10, and exchanged views on the transition to the second phase.

This was mentioned in a post on his account on the American platform "X" on Saturday.

Kucali clarified that representatives from Turkey, the United States, Qatar, and Egypt met in Miami on Friday.

He noted that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan represented Turkey in the meeting, which focused on developments in the Gaza Strip.

Kucali stated: "The meeting assessed issues related to the implementation of the first phase of the peace plan in Gaza and exchanged views on the transition to the second phase."

He pointed out that the meeting emphasized the "continuation of the ceasefire achieved in the first phase despite violations, and the completion of the release of hostages and a significant reduction in clashes."

Kucali highlighted that the discussions covered arrangements to ensure that Gaza is managed by the Palestinians concerning the second phase, and the "steps planned regarding the peace council and the international stability force as stipulated in the peace plan."

Minister Fidan exchanged views on the sidelines of the meeting with the present officials in Miami within the framework of efforts aimed at stopping the war between Russia and Ukraine, according to Kucali.

It is worth noting that on September 29, former President Donald Trump announced a peace plan and cessation of hostilities in Gaza consisting of 20 clauses, including the release of Israeli prisoners, a ceasefire, disarmament of Hamas, Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, forming a technocrat government, and deploying an international stability force.

On October 10, the first phase of the ceasefire agreement came into effect, while Israel violated some of its terms and delayed the transition to the second phase, citing the captivity of one of its soldiers in Gaza, despite Palestinian factions continuing their search for his body amid the massive destruction left by the Israeli genocide that has lasted for two years.

The agreement was supposed to end the genocide perpetrated by Tel Aviv for two years starting on October 8, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of about 71,000 Palestinians and injuries to more than 171,000, but Israel continues today its violations and its suffocating blockade on the Strip.
