The Occupation Court Decides to Close the Investigation File on the Martyrdom of the Prisoner Child Walid Ahmed Inside "Megiddo" Prison

SadaNews - The Israeli occupation court has decided to close the investigation file regarding the martyrdom of the detained child Walid Ahmed (17 years old) from the town of Silwad east of Ramallah, who passed away last March in "Megiddo" prison.

The Palestinian Prisoners and Former Prisoners Affairs Commission, along with the Prisoner Club, reported today, Wednesday, that the occupation claimed there was no direct crime against the martyr, despite assurances from initial reports and testimonies regarding the effects of starvation and the deterioration of Walid's health condition before his martyrdom.

They stated that according to the final autopsy report, which indicated that the direct cause of the child's martyrdom was acute pulmonary embolism resulting from a blood clot - attributed by the occupation narrative to "long-term health deterioration" - this is what the court relied on in its decision, without addressing the fact that the effects of starvation and deliberate deprivation of treatment are confirmed central reasons for his martyrdom.

The institutions viewed this decision, which included ignoring the clear indicators on the martyr's body that prove torture through starvation and deprivation of treatment, as nothing more than a blatant attempt to obscure the actual reasons that led the child Walid to this catastrophic health condition.

They emphasized that at the forefront of these reasons is the crime of starvation and a series of systematic practices inside the detention centers, for which the occupation prison system bears direct responsibility, as they are the central factor in his martyrdom; a fact that was clearly confirmed by the results of the initial medical report that was completed with the participation of a doctor from "Physicians for Human Rights", as well as the report issued by the "Abu Kabir" forensic institute.

The commission and the club affirmed that the judicial follow-up since the moment of the child's martyrdom revealed a great deal of procrastination and deliberate delays by the occupation's police and prosecution, and both parties' refusal to provide serious updates to the court, reflecting the lack of real will to investigate and the ongoing effort to dispel suspicions and distance responsibility from the real perpetrators whose actions led to this outcome, especially since the child Walid Ahmed did not suffer from any health problems prior to his arrest.

This comes in the context of a systematic disregard for a massive amount of documented data and public confessions issued by the occupation authorities regarding the punitive and starvation policies imposed on detainees since the beginning of the genocide war to this day, confirming once again the complicity of the judicial apparatus in protecting these policies and entrenching unprecedented crimes against detainees.

The institutions confirmed that the case of the child martyr Walid Ahmed represents a stark example of the occupation's tendency towards killing detainees and executing them slowly inside prisons, in alignment with the extremist policies of the occupation government which has raised calls for the execution of detainees to the level of official program.

It is noteworthy that the number of martyrs among detainees since the beginning of the genocide war has exceeded 100, with the identities of 86 of them officially recognized, while dozens of martyrs from Gaza detainees remain subjected to enforced disappearance until now.
