Report: Trump and His Advisers Insulted Netanyahu After the Assassination of Raed Saad
SadaNews - American officials surrounding President Donald Trump unleashed a torrent of insults towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu due to the assassination of Hamas leader Raed Saad, which occurred the day before yesterday on Saturday.
A "reliable source" indicated that it is not unlikely that some of these insults were directed at Netanyahu directly, as Trump's advisers are convinced that "the assassination of Saad was not part of Israel's dialogue with Hamas, but rather part of its dialogue with Trump," according to a report by political analyst Nahum Barnea in the newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth," published today on the newspaper's website "Wynet."
The report noted that "when they read in the White House the statement Netanyahu made during his government's meeting yesterday, this suspicion will be reinforced."
Netanyahu told his government that "Anyone trying to send terrorism, direct terrorism, organize terrorism, is within the line of fire. And our policy will remain very firm and independent." According to Barnea, the term "independent" in Netanyahu's statement "is also aimed at exporting," meaning it is directed towards Trump.
Trump is expected to move into the second phase of his plan regarding Gaza these days, "and the details are not important to him; what matters is the momentum and progress. The vision laid out by his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, for Trump changed upon colliding with reality. The current decision is that the international force, if formed, will only operate in the areas of the sector controlled by the Israeli army, i.e., between the yellow line and the green line. This will be a representative and weak force, similar to UNIFIL," according to the report.
It added that "they realize in the White House now that any Italian or Indonesian soldier will be risking his life to disarm a Hamas fighter. Only two peoples can send soldiers for this mission: the Israelis and the Palestinians. The Israelis are rejected, as the main commitment of Trump's plan was to expel Israel from Gaza. And only the Palestinians remain."
The report pointed out that "Netanyahu knew in advance that this would happen. He is not foolish. Nonetheless, he agreed to the plan. He acted this way in the previous two hostage deals (prisoner exchange) in January 2024 and February 2025. He agreed to a deal and withdrew from it on the eve of the second phase; and he behaved this way, without comparison, when he agreed to a rotation agreement (for the premiership) with Benny Gantz, and he will try to act similarly in his agreement with Herzog regarding the pardon."
It emphasized that "anyone who is familiar with Netanyahu knows that agreements signed with him must start with their second phase; otherwise, they will not reach the second phase."
The report continued that "Trump's advisers recorded for themselves the incident of November 28, when a force from the Israeli army was sent to the village of Beit Jann deep within Syrian territory to arrest suspects from an Islamic organization affiliated with the regime. The force became involved, resulting in the death of 9 - 20 militants and injuries to six Israeli soldiers. The Syrian government claimed that the goal of this military operation was to undermine the regime. And that was its true objective."
Furthermore, it stated that "The Israeli army described the operation as a military maneuver using military tools, like the failed bombing in Qatar. They realized in the White House that Netanyahu is sending them a message: he refuses to move towards a security agreement with Syria that would require withdrawal from the lands occupied during the war. The next phase is fraught with risks, and Netanyahu does not want to navigate them."
The report indicated that "Trump intervened in the war in Ukraine and in the war in the Middle East contrary to his isolationist instincts and the vision of the MAGA movement he established. The aim was to glorify his name globally and prove that he can succeed in missions where his predecessors failed. Meanwhile, he has achieved little, and his claim that he established peace in 8 wars is a joke, having paid significant domestic costs. His thirst for immediate achievements inevitably leads him to clash with the current Israeli government."
According to the report, "Trump is convinced that all regional rulers are working for him. He even sometimes believes their hypocritical statements. But he will later realize that he is working for them, and he will find out that dreams are grand in the Middle East, but the feet are on the ground. Erdogan, for instance, Sisi, and Netanyahu."
Moreover, it went on to indicate that "Netanyahu pledges in his speeches a new Middle East, and opportunities that no one has imagined, a regional Eden, and anything that suits the utopia of Trump. In reality, he is pushing towards an eternal war. He will stop the fighting in Lebanon, Iran, and Gaza only when Trump forces him to stop."
The report mentioned that "Many have wondered why Trump started the campaign for pardoning Netanyahu. The answer to this question is no less important than the question of why Trump suddenly informed Netanyahu that he decided to stop. There was a call for pardon, and it was not present. Trump refrained from explaining the reason."
Barnea concluded his report by questioning whether "their romantic relationship is approaching its end? I don't know. But we are at the beginning of an election year, here and in the United States. It will be much harder to reconcile Trump's ambition to be the king of the world with Netanyahu's ambition to be the policeman of the region, waging wars contrary to the interests of Trump's allies, and cloaking a confrontational policy with a thick layer of hypocrisy and hope that the outcome will land in Trump's throat. It would be prudent for Netanyahu to bring a warm coat with him when traveling to Washington. It is bitterly cold there."
