Gaza Responds: Misleading American Statements Regarding the Number of Trucks Entering the Strip

SadaNews - The Government Media Office in Gaza confirmed that the statements made by the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, regarding "600 trucks daily" entering the Gaza Strip are inaccurate and contradict documented field realities, representing a clear attempt to whitewash the image of the occupation and cover up the ongoing crime of the blockade against more than two million civilians living in catastrophic humanitarian conditions.

The office continued: "Since the ceasefire decision went into effect 62 days ago, only 14,534 trucks have entered the Gaza Strip out of the 37,200 trucks that were supposed to enter according to the agreement. This means that the actual daily average does not exceed 234 trucks, with a compliance rate of only 39%. These figures confirm that the occupation is not only significantly reducing the quantities but is also implementing a systematic economic strangulation policy aimed at keeping the Gaza Strip on the brink of famine."

It stated: "Moreover, the occupation does not only reduce the number of trucks but also fully controls the nature of the goods, allowing the entry of low-nutritional-value items while preventing dozens of vital categories, including essential foodstuffs, medical supplies, spare parts, and emergency materials, without any legal or humanitarian justification. This behavior represents a gross violation of international humanitarian law and the commitments outlined in the ceasefire agreement, as well as a flagrant use of food and medicine as tools of pressure and collective punishment against civilians."

It added: "We affirm that the truth is clearer than the attempts to mislead, as what is happening at the crossings is systematic blockade entailing daily disruptions, slow and deliberate inspections, refusal to allow essential items, and reduction of supply quantities that prevent the stabilization of the humanitarian situation. We hold the occupation fully responsible for the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe and calls on the international community to conduct an independent and transparent investigation into the occupation's handling of aid and to compel it to fulfill its obligations without selectivity or procrastination."

Ambassador Mike Waltz had stated: "I visited the Kerem Shalom crossing with Egypt to observe the flow of assistance, and now over 600 trucks of food and medicine are entering daily through the crossing."
