President Abbas Meets Spanish King to Discuss Support for Palestine
SadaNews: The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, met today, Wednesday, in the Spanish capital Madrid, with King Felipe VI of Spain.
During the meeting, they reviewed ways to enhance bilateral relations, especially after Spain's recognition of the State of Palestine, as well as the latest political developments and the situation on the ground in Palestine.
The President expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Spain, its government, and its friendly people for their courageous positions in supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause in international forums, including the international coalition and the New York conference, and for rallying international support for further recognition of the State of Palestine and providing humanitarian assistance and support for building the institutions of the State of Palestine.
President Abbas and King Felipe VI also discussed the efforts made to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensure the entry of humanitarian aid, complete the Israeli withdrawal from the area, allow the State of Palestine to assume its responsibilities, move towards reconstruction, prevent displacement and annexation, and achieve lasting stability, in preparation for ending the occupation and achieving independence for the State of Palestine as a viable, democratic, and sovereign state in accordance with international legitimacy.
The President reaffirmed the full commitment to all reforms that the State of Palestine has pledged to undertake.
