Increase in the death toll from floods and landslides in Indonesia's Sumatra to 914
SadaNews - The National Disaster Management Agency in Indonesia has confirmed that the death toll following the massive floods and landslides that hit three districts on the island of Sumatra has risen to 914.
The agency's data and information communication center stated, "As of yesterday afternoon, Saturday, the number of fatalities reached 914, an increase of 47 from the total of 867," according to the Indonesian news agency Antara News on Sunday.
Aceh province recorded the highest number of deaths at 359, followed by North Sumatra province (329 fatalities), and then West Sumatra (226).
Response teams are intensifying their search and rescue efforts to minimize the number of victims. Across the three provinces, 389 people are still reported missing, according to the latest list from the search and rescue team.
