Turkish Foreign Minister: Disarming Hamas is Not a Current Priority
SadaNews - On Saturday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that disarming Hamas is not a priority at this stage of the political process in Gaza, emphasizing that "the first step cannot be disarmament; we must be realistic and put things in their proper context."
Fidan added, in his remarks during the Doha Forum 2025, that Ankara continues to do everything in its power to ensure the implementation of the peace plan in Gaza as quickly as possible, and to end the escalating humanitarian tragedy in the sector.
The Turkish minister noted that there are significant efforts, especially in the humanitarian and diplomatic fields, to stop the war and implement the peace plan, affirming the continuation of coordination with partners in the region, alongside the United States and Europe, to ensure the agreement is applied and pushed forward.
