The Presidency Warns of the Seriousness of Violations and Brutality Faced by Prisoners
SadaNews - The Palestinian presidency warned of the serious violations and brutality faced by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation jails, which affect their human dignity and threaten their lives in a manner that is contrary and blatant to all international laws and conventions, foremost among them the four Geneva Conventions.
The presidency specifically condemned the continuous assaults and dangerous retaliatory measures against imprisoned leader Marwan Barghouti, a member of the Central Committee of the "Fatah" movement, holding the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for his safety and the safety of all prisoners in occupation jails.
The presidency emphasized that the continuation of these violations against prisoners constitutes a complete war crime, reflecting a systematic Israeli policy of persecution against Palestinian prisoners, in an attempt to break their will and collectively punish them.
The presidency called on the international community, international human rights organizations, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to take immediate and urgent action to fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, pressuring the occupation government to immediately halt these violations, ensure international protection for the prisoners, and enable them to enjoy their rights guaranteed by international laws, asserting the ongoing efforts to secure their release, led by leader Marwan Barghouti.
