Israel continues to violate Syria's sovereignty and incursions in Quneitra countryside

SadaNews - The Israeli occupation army renewed its violation of Syrian sovereignty and military forces and vehicles penetrated into the Quneitra countryside in the southwest of the country on Monday.

The Syrian official news agency (SANA) reported that the Israeli occupation forces moved this morning towards the western side of the town of Sayda al-Hanout in the southern Quneitra countryside.

The agency explained that a military force from the occupation, consisting of 3 vehicles, was stationed in the village, along with a drone that flew over Sayda al-Hanout to monitor the area.

Simultaneously with this incursion, the occupation forces transferred two tanks from the Burj point in Quneitra towards the Hamidiya point in the northern Quneitra countryside, according to the Syrian agency which also reported that the occupation forces penetrated yesterday in the northern and southern Quneitra countryside, and set up checkpoints to inspect passersby.

Recently, Israel's violations in Quneitra have escalated, as Syrians complain about incursions into their agricultural lands, the only source of their livelihood, especially as the occupation forces have destroyed hundreds of dunams of forests, detained Syrians, and set up military checkpoints to inspect passersby.

In recent months, Israeli-Syrian meetings have been held in an attempt to reach security arrangements that guarantee Israel's withdrawal from the Syrian buffer zone, which it occupied in December 2024.

However, the Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, considered in late November that Tel Aviv is not on a path to peace with Syria.

Although the Syrian government has not posed any threat to Tel Aviv, Israel continues to execute ground incursions and air strikes that have killed civilians and destroyed sites and military vehicles and weapons and ammunition belonging to the Syrian army.

It is noteworthy that Israel has occupied most of the Syrian Golan Heights since the June 5, 1967 war, and exploited the events of the ousting of the deposed President Bashar al-Assad and his regime in late 2024 to expand the scope of its occupation.
