Trump Grants "Full Pardon" to Former Honduran President Convicted of Drug Trafficking
SadaNews - On Friday-Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he is set to grant a pardon to former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who was sentenced in the United States in 2024 to 45 years in prison for drug trafficking.
The announcement of the pardon for Hernández, who belongs to the right-wing National Party, comes just days before the presidential elections scheduled for Sunday in the Central American country.
This week, the Republican president declared his support for Nasry Asfura, the National Party candidate in the presidential elections of Honduras.
Honduras is considered one of the most violent countries in Latin America, primarily due to drug trafficking gangs and organized crime.
