Sisi: We will continue efforts to implement the ceasefire agreement in Gaza
SadaNews - On Tuesday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Saifi Gharib, the Prime Minister of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, in the presence of Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt, and delegations from both countries, where the meeting discussed updates on regional developments.
President Sisi confirmed Egypt's commitment to continue its efforts with all parties to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip as recently approved in the relevant resolution issued by the Security Council, to consolidate the ceasefire in the sector, prevent and avoid any violations of the agreement, enhance the flow of humanitarian aid, and prepare for the reconstruction process in the sector.
"Sisi" indicated Egypt's intention to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza. The necessity of stopping the practices carried out against Palestinians in the West Bank was also emphasized.
In this context, the Egyptian President expressed his appreciation for the positive role played by Algeria during its non-permanent membership in the Security Council in defense of Arab issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, praising Algeria's historical position supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Egyptian presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed Shenawy stated that the discussions also addressed developments in several regional countries, highlighting the importance of avoiding any escalation and the dire consequences it would entail, reaffirming respect for the sovereignty of states and the unity and integrity of their territories and the resources of their peoples, and taking all necessary steps to protect civilians and stop any violations against them.
The Egyptian presidential spokesperson declared that President Sisi opened the meeting by emphasizing the strategic nature of relations between Egypt and Algeria, and the deep historical ties that unite the two brotherly countries, commending the development and increasing momentum of bilateral relations in recent years.
In this context, the Egyptian President requested that his greetings be conveyed to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, expressing his wishes for Algeria's continued progress and prosperity.
For his part, the Algerian Prime Minister conveyed President Tebboune's greetings to the Egyptian President, affirming the high regard in which the Egyptian President is held by President Tebboune, and Algeria’s commitment to continue working with Egypt to build on what was agreed upon between the two presidents during the Algerian President's visit to Egypt in October 2024, enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The Algerian Prime Minister also congratulated Egypt on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the election of Dr. Khaled Anani as Director-General of UNESCO.
Shenawy pointed out that the meeting reflected a shared consensus on the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields, including agriculture, industry, education, energy, communications, and information technology, as well as intensifying political consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest, both bilaterally and within regional and international organizations and institutions.
In this context, the Egyptian President appreciated the holding of the ninth session of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Higher Committee in Cairo, emphasizing the need to build on its outcomes to enhance the pace of economic, commercial, and investment cooperation between the two countries. The meeting also discussed prospects for maximizing cooperation in development, infrastructure, and the establishment of new urban communities, as well as exploring available opportunities to increase mutual investments and enhance economic ties, including encouraging Egyptian companies to expand their operations in Algeria.
