Bangladesh: Death Sentence Issued Against Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
SadaNews - A court in Bangladesh issued a death sentence on Monday against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, after she was convicted of crimes against humanity.
Judge Ghulam Mortuza Mozumder announced in a ruling broadcast live by national television from a crowded courtroom in Dhaka, "All the elements constituting crimes against humanity have been met."
He added, "We have decided to impose a single penalty on her, which is death."
Sheikh Hasina (78 years old), who was ousted, refused to comply with court orders to return from India to attend her trial regarding the bloody security campaign against the uprising led by students that ousted her in August 2024.
