Government Session: A Stand Against Settlement, Economic Measures, and Steps to Protect the Market
SadaNews: Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa opened the weekly Cabinet meeting today, Tuesday, explaining the political and diplomatic efforts and movements being made by the President and the government and the diplomatic corps to realize the institutions of the State of Palestine and the unity of its territories in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem.
In this context, the Cabinet warned of the expansion of occupation plans in Jerusalem, including eviction decisions for the homes of citizens in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan, in addition to tightening procedures to besiege the city of Jerusalem and restricting schools and hindering the movement of citizens through about 80 checkpoints and gates, calling for effective Arab, Islamic, and international action to stop these illegal Israeli measures.
The Cabinet also called for effective international action to compel the occupation to stop the attacks of settler gangs on citizens in dozens of Palestinian villages and towns, especially in the areas designated as "C," which specifically targeted olive harvesters and assaults against journalists.
Additionally, the Cabinet condemned the Knesset's vote in the first reading of the law to execute Palestinian prisoners.
The Cabinet discussed the difficult economic and financial conditions resulting from the continued occupation’s detention of clearance funds and the complete halt of their transfer for the past six months, which have accumulated since 2019 to exceed 13 billion shekels today. The council also discussed taking additional measures to deal with the current crisis, including commissioning the economic ministerial committee and the national team to prevent market flooding to tighten measures preventing the market from being flooded with foreign goods and low-value products, contributing to the support of national products, alongside establishing criteria and necessary reviews to ensure the different parties adhere to the implementation of the Paris Economic Agreement, including the transfer of tax revenues to the Palestinian government.
The Cabinet also approved the recommendations of the national team to develop a vision regarding settlement in the areas classified as (C) during its meeting No. (02) dated 17/09/2025, including expediting settlement procedures, continuing legal efforts through local bodies to legally defend citizens' lands, and intensifying political and diplomatic action internationally.
In another context, the Ministry of Labor completed its preparations and procedures in cooperation with the World Food Program and the Humanitarian Fund for the Palestinian Territories through Catholic Relief Services to disburse the 19th payment to 4,596 workers, companions, and patients from Gaza.
The Cabinet agreed to extend the working arrangements for public employees until the end of the year.
The Cabinet also adopted a memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Government of the State of Palestine, represented by the Ministry of Interior, regarding the establishment and development of a unified emergency response center (911) in the State of Palestine.
The Cabinet recommended that the President present a draft law on data protection after completing its study, consulting various relevant parties, and examining the comments received on the draft law via the Legislative Platform of the Ministry of Justice.
