The Supreme Fatwa Council Calls to Rescue the Bab al-Rahma Cemetery in Jerusalem
SadaNews: The Supreme Fatwa Council in Palestine has called for the rescue of the Bab al-Rahma Cemetery adjacent to the eastern wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, following actions by groups of extremist settlers who have smashed several graves there, in a new attack added to the ongoing series of assaults on the cemetery by settlers who perform Talmudic rituals inside it.
The council clarified that this act constitutes an assault on the dignity of the dead and coincides with aggression against the dignity of the living, emphasizing that these violations contradict divine laws and international norms.
It pointed out that the cemetery is purely an Islamic endowment and contains the graves of several noble companions, including Ubadah bin al-Samit and Shaddad bin Aws, in addition to the graves of those who participated in the conquest of Jerusalem during the two conquests of Umar and Ayyubid, indicating that the occupation authorities aim, through these assaults, to obliterate Arab and Islamic landmarks and transform parts of the cemetery into a biblical garden as part of a scheme to Judaize the holy city.
The Fatwa Council urged international organizations and bodies to take immediate action to stop the targeting of the Palestinian people, both living and dead, and to put an end to the occupation's assaults on sacred sites and Islamic religious places in Jerusalem.
