A Month Later.. Hamas Confirms Commitment to Ceasefire and Calls for Obligating Israel to Implement It

SadaNews - The "Hamas" movement confirmed this evening, Monday, its full commitment to the agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh regarding the ceasefire agreement, and its moral and humanitarian responsibility towards the Palestinians.

The movement, in a detailed statement, held the occupation fully responsible for its continued violations and grave breaches of the agreement, calling on mediators, guarantors, governments, and international organizations to take immediate and serious action to oblige the occupation to cease its aggression, lift the siege, allow aid in, and ensure the rights of the Palestinian people to security, freedom, and dignity.

Hamas called on mediators, guarantors, states, international organizations, and the free people of the world to urgently intervene to ensure that the occupation adheres to the precise terms of the ceasefire agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh, to ensure its continuation, prevent any violations, and halt the killing, massacres, and violations against the people of Gaza immediately.

The movement reaffirmed the need for withdrawal according to the agreed-upon temporary line in the first phase, preventing any field transgressions or additional fire control, adhering to the agreed upon quantities of aid and fuel as stipulated in the agreement, and preventing their reduction or obstruction. It also called for the immediate allowance of UNRWA to operate freely within the Gaza Strip, enabling it to enter and distribute humanitarian aid as the most experienced and capable entity for that task.

Moreover, Hamas called for the reopening of the Rafah crossing in both directions for the travel and return of citizens, lifting the restrictions imposed on it immediately, and opening the Zikim crossing to bring in humanitarian and relief aid through the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan without restrictions or delays, and urgently allowing the entry of 300,000 tents for immediate shelter to enable citizens to protect themselves from the harsh winter cold.

It also stressed the necessity of providing the equipment and machinery needed to rehabilitate infrastructure, adhere to the agreed humanitarian protocol, and immediately cease the demolition and destruction of homes and civilian facilities in the areas still controlled by the occupation, as well as allowing the entry of the required equipment to operate the power plant in Gaza and provide the necessary quantities of diesel for it.

Hamas emphasized the importance of the complete and immediate disclosure of the fate and information of all detained and missing Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, and allowing the entry of medical, humanitarian, and media missions, as well as civil defense teams, to provide their humanitarian and relief services freely.
