Israel Announces Assassination of Hezbollah Member in Southern Lebanon
SadaNews - The Israeli army announced on Saturday the assassination of a Hezbollah member in the town of Barashit in southern Lebanon.
The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichai Adrai, stated in a post on the "X" platform that the army "attacked in the Barashit area in southern Lebanon" and eliminated one of the Hezbollah members.
He added that the member "was involved in attempts to reconstruct Hezbollah's military infrastructure in the area."
This comes after Israeli drones earlier on Saturday struck a car in the Shebaa area, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, and hit another car in Barashit as well.
An Israeli drone also targeted a third vehicle with guided missiles near Salah Ghandour Hospital in the city of Bint Jbeil, while the Ministry of Health announced that 7 citizens were injured.
Intensification of Strikes
Israel has intensified its airstrikes over the past few days, claiming it targets Hezbollah members and sites. It also confirmed that the party is attempting to rebuild its military capabilities and reorganize.
While the Lebanese authorities have maintained their position regarding readiness to negotiate with the Israeli side to resolve outstanding issues, they clarified that Israel responded to this call by increasing its strikes and aggressions.
In contrast, Hezbollah announced its refusal to engage in any negotiations with Israel, insisting that Lebanon is not obligated to do so, and called on the three presidencies to work towards stopping the "Israeli aggressions."
This stance from the party came after U.S. envoy Tom Barak encouraged Lebanon on Saturday from Manama to conduct direct negotiations with Israel.
