Injuries from Occupation Fire in Tulkarm, Qalqilya, and Ramallah
SadaNews - Several citizens were injured by live ammunition and suffocation today, Friday, during the repression of Israeli occupation forces against a public event organized on lands in the Al-Duweir area between the villages of Beit Lid east of Tulkarm and Kafr Qaddum east of Qalqilya.
Local sources reported that the occupation forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets, and tear gas canisters at participants after they performed Friday prayers on the lands threatened with confiscation. They also chased farmers and assaulted a number of young men, with field medical treatment provided to the injured by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
The Red Crescent Society reported that 15 citizens were injured during confrontations in the town of Beit Lid near Tulkarm, including one injury from live ammunition, two injuries from beatings, and 12 cases of suffocation from tear gas.
This event was organized at the invitation of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, in cooperation with the municipalities of Kafr Qaddum and Beit Lid, the "Fatah" movement, national action factions, and popular resistance committees, in rejection of settlers' attempts to establish a new colonial outpost on lands between Kafr Qaddum and Beit Lid.
Participating in the event were the head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Muayad Shabaneh, several representatives of official and civil institutions, residents of the two villages, and solidarity activists.
In a related context, two citizens were injured by Israeli occupation fire at the Atara military checkpoint north of Ramallah.
Local sources reported that the occupation forces fired live ammunition at a vehicle, resulting in injuries to two citizens, one of whom was shot in the back and the other in the hand, and they were subsequently transferred to the hospital.
