54 Injured in Blast at Mosque in Indonesian Capital
SadaNews - Indonesian police reported that dozens were injured and transported to hospitals due to an explosion at a mosque during Friday prayers inside a school complex in the capital, Jakarta.
The city’s police chief, Asib Edi Suheri, stated at a press conference broadcast on television that the police are investigating the cause of the explosion that occurred in the Kebon Jeruk area of North Jakarta.
He added that the number of injured individuals taken to hospitals reached 54, noting that the injuries varied from mild to severe and included burns.
Two television channels showed footage of a row of police forces around the school and ambulances on standby. Images of the mosque did not show any serious damage.
Asib Edi Suheri, the city police chief, clarified in statements carried by the "Kompas TV" channel that "the preliminary information we received indicates that about 54 people were injured. Some of them have minor injuries, others moderate, and a number of them have already left the hospital."
