Iranian Revolutionary Guard: The assassination of Ismail Haniya was carried out with a guided missile
SadaNews: The spokesperson for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated that the assassination of the former head of Hamas's political bureau, Ismail Haniya, was not the result of any internal sabotage.
The spokesperson added that Haniya was targeted by a missile fired from a specified distance, which hit the window directly before settling into his body.
He clarified that Haniya was speaking on the phone at the moment of the strike and that the missile came from the direction he was looking towards.
He also stated, as translated by SadaNews: "We tried to warn him about his phones that evening, but he didn’t take it seriously".
He further mentioned that Israel killed Haniya at the residence of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to embarrass Iran: "They could have done it in the streets of Tehran as well," according to SadaNews's translation.
He declared that the Iranian National Security Council, following the assassination, unanimously agreed on the necessity of a response, leaving the timing of the response to the armed forces.
He noted that this decision came after resolving the issues faced during the operation "Honest Promise 1", emphasizing that the team of "Martyr Hajizadeh" achieved what is equivalent to a full year of work in just two months between the operations "Honest Promise 1 and 2".
Haniya and his companion were assassinated on July 31 after participating in the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Bezhkishan.
