Two Sudanese Ambassadors Threaten to Expel Rapid Support Forces from Al-Fasher

SadaNews - The Sudanese ambassadors to Saudi Arabia and Egypt stressed that the Sudanese army "will expel the Rapid Support Forces" from Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, confirming that atrocities have been committed against civilians in the region.

The Sudanese ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dafallah Al-Haj Ali, stated that the Sudanese army will restore security and stability to the country and will expel the Rapid Support Forces from Al-Fasher and all Sudanese territories, as he put it.

He added, during a press conference held in the Saudi capital Riyadh yesterday, that the Rapid Support Forces are committing serious and brutal violations against civilians, including killings, arrests, rapes, and torture, in Al-Fasher and elsewhere.

He mentioned that the atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces, which were documented by the forces themselves, must not go unpunished by the international community, particularly the massacre at the Saudi hospital in Al-Fasher, where more than 400 sick civilians were killed, according to him.

For his part, Sudan's ambassador to Egypt, Imad Al-Din Adawi, stated that sources confirmed that what he called the Rapid Support Forces militia executed around 2,700 people as of October 28 following the recent developments in the city of Al-Fasher, the capital of the Darfur region.

During a press conference he held in Cairo yesterday, Adawi called for urgent measures to protect civilians and to pressure for the delivery of humanitarian aid and ensure the delivery of relief, "including imposing safe corridors and enforce strict and urgent measures against the aggressor and its financiers".

Adawi emphasized the importance of imposing an arms embargo on the Rapid Support Forces and preventing any military or financial support from reaching them.

Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur in western Sudan, is witnessing an unprecedented deteriorating humanitarian situation following the control of the Rapid Support Forces over it in late October, with reports of serious violations, killings, rapes, and mass displacement.

With the control of Al-Fasher, the Rapid Support Forces have taken control of all centers in the five Darfur states in the west of the country out of 18 states overall, while the army controls most areas of the remaining 13 states in the south, north, east, and center, including the capital Khartoum.

According to the United Nations, thousands of civilians are fleeing from Al-Fasher on foot toward the town of Talodi, which is 60 kilometers away, via what is called the "Road of Death," where survivors face thirst, hunger, and repeated violations while attempting to escape.

The Sudan Doctors Network stated yesterday that the Rapid Support Forces still hold thousands of civilians inside the city of Al-Fasher and prevent them from leaving, adding that they have confiscated means of transportation that were used to evacuate the displaced and have returned some escapees back into the city, including those injured by gunfire and others suffering from malnutrition.
