Haaretz Reveals: Suicide of a Prominent Israeli Officer Amid Military Censorship Silence
SadaNews - The Hebrew newspaper "Haaretz" has revealed the suicide incident of a senior officer in the Israeli army, who is considered one of the oldest operators of drones, following his involvement in the recent war against Gaza. Despite several months passing since the incident, military censorship continues to prevent the publication of his name or additional details regarding the circumstances of his death.
According to the newspaper, the officer expressed his deep concern about the continuation of the war weeks before his suicide, stating: "This war must end, and it has consequences we do not yet understand."
This incident comes amid a notable increase in suicide cases within the Israeli army since the outbreak of the war on Gaza, with the newspaper recording 17 military suicides since the beginning of 2025, compared to 24 cases in 2024, and 17 cases in 2023, including 7 cases since the start of the recent aggression. Reports indicate that the army is suffering from a severe shortage of qualified psychological staff to address soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorders, especially those who served in field units or participated in identifying the dead.
