Occupation announces the assassination of 4 Hezbollah members in southern Lebanon

SadaNews - Four people were martyred and three others were injured as a result of an Israeli raid targeting a vehicle in the town of Kfar Rumman in southern Lebanon late Saturday to Sunday, amid escalating and ongoing Israeli violations and attacks in Lebanese territory.

The Lebanese agency reported that "an Israeli drone carried out an airstrike at around ten fifteen in the evening, targeting an SUV on the Kfar Rumman outskirts road on the eastern edges of the town."

Lebanese press sources indicated that the raid resulted in several injuries, and ambulance teams arrived at the scene and transported them to a hospital; later announcing the martyrdom of four of them.

An Israeli security source stated that the target of the raid was a member of the "Rizwan" unit affiliated with Hezbollah, according to army radio.

Earlier on Saturday evening, an intensive flight of Israeli drones was observed over the city of Tyre and the villages of the district, according to the Lebanese agency.

Earlier on Saturday, a person was injured in an Israeli raid on the town of Kfar Sir in the Nabatiyeh district, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

The Israeli army announces daily its implementation of attacks in Lebanon, claiming they target Hezbollah sites and members.

According to a Lebanese newspaper on Saturday, Egypt proposed an initiative this week to end the escalation and Israeli attacks, which includes a ceasefire lasting more than three months.

The proposal stipulates that Israel will completely halt its attacks and release hundreds of Lebanese prisoners from its prisons in exchange for a complete withdrawal of Hezbollah from the south of the Litani River.

Egypt will also conduct direct talks with Hezbollah's leadership to reach a "political-security" formula under international sponsorship regarding its weapons north of the Litani River, in return for the Israeli army withdrawing from the sites it still occupies in southern Lebanon.

In the final stage, the land borders between Lebanon and Israel will be demarcated; according to the Egyptian proposal submitted to Beirut.

This comes at a time when Israel is escalating in Lebanon to pressure the authorities to disarm Hezbollah, while Washington is urging Lebanon to enter into direct negotiations with the prisoners to contain the escalation.

U.S. envoy Thomas Barak urged Lebanon on Saturday to conduct direct negotiations with Israel, warning that "there is no time for Lebanon, and it must disarm quickly," referring to Hezbollah, adding, "If you want to do this, we will help you. We will pressure Israel to be reasonable."

Beirut faces "peak pressures" from Israeli, American, and international parties, and is at a crossroads between accepting the conditions that Tel Aviv and Washington are trying to impose or facing a "major escalation" if it rejects them, while seeking options to emerge with a unified Lebanese stance; meanwhile, Israel is considering intensifying its attacks in Lebanon, claiming that Hezbollah has succeeded in enhancing its strength.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun had requested the army commander to confront any Israeli incursion following the martyrdom of a municipal employee shot by Israeli army forces during their incursion into the municipality building in Blida, southern Lebanon, on Thursday.

Israel had informed the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump that it was determined to intervene militarily in Lebanon, considering that the Lebanese army's plan was slow and ineffective, according to Lebanese diplomatic sources, which indicated that Tel Aviv accused the Lebanese army of colluding with or aligning with Hezbollah; according to what was reported by the Lebanese newspaper "Al-Modon" on Thursday.

Washington had sent its envoy to the Middle East, Morgan Ortagus, while Egypt sent its intelligence chief Hassan Rashad, as part of urgent diplomatic moves to curb the risks of war, especially with the daily increase in Israeli escalation; according to the same sources.

Israel expressed to both the American and Egyptian sides its desire to expand military operations in Lebanon, while both Ortagus and Rashad called for giving diplomatic efforts a chance before proceeding with expanding the war.
