Fatah Responds to Factions' Statement: The PLO is the True Guarantee for Any Comprehensive Palestinian Vision

SadaNews - The Palestinian National Liberation Movement "Fatah" confirmed that the statements made by several Palestinian factions yesterday "once again prove that the true guarantor of any comprehensive Palestinian vision is to start from the square of Palestinian national legitimacy represented by the Palestine Liberation Organization and the State of Palestine, as they are the only unifying framework capable of protecting the national project from marginalization attempts or alternative constructions".

The movement emphasized in a statement that "policies of exclusivity and attempts to circumvent or bypass national legitimacy cannot succeed, because sovereignty and authority over the land of the State of Palestine is a fundamental right of the Palestinian people and its legitimate institutions. This necessitates that everyone commits seriously to this principle and translates it into clear practical steps on the ground" as stated in the statement.

It stressed that "rallying around the Palestinian priorities that the Palestinian leadership has worked on since the first day of the comprehensive war on our people - which includes a ceasefire, complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the entry of humanitarian aid, restoring life to the sector, preventing displacement, and the exchange of prisoners and hostages - is the correct path around which all forces should unite, instead of getting preoccupied with factional agendas or narrow calculations that weaken the overall national position".

It deemed that "agreeing on a professional administrative committee of competencies to manage the affairs of the Gaza Strip for a specified period is an important and required step, provided that this committee is under the authority of the Government of the State of Palestine, and any disregard for this authority by any party is considered a consolidation of division and serves the objectives of the occupation seeking to separate Gaza from the West Bank and Jerusalem, and prevent the embodiment of a unified Palestinian state".

Fatah stated: "At a time when the occupation continues its efforts to undermine the Palestinian National Authority by withholding Palestinian tax revenues, choking the Palestinian economy, escalating the terrorism of its settlers, and pursuing the annexation of Palestinian lands in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip".

It reaffirmed that "security in the Gaza Strip is the responsibility of the official Palestinian security apparatuses, and any international force - if it exists - must be stationed at the borders, not inside the sector, with a clear and specific mandate from the Security Council that does not infringe upon Palestinian sovereignty or the role of its official institutions".

The movement emphasized its "rejection of any form of guardianship or mandate over our people, and that the role of the International Peace Committee is to monitor and audit within a specific timeframe to ensure everyone's commitment to halting the war, supervising reconstruction, and implementing the plan, without infringing upon the independent national decision or the authority of the institutions of the State of Palestine".

Regarding Palestinian weapons, Fatah affirmed that "the fundamental solution to this issue must be within a national vision that establishes a single authority, one weapon, and one law, ensuring unity of position and internal stability, thwarting the occupation's justifications for the continuation of aggression or entrenchment of division".

Concerning national unity, the movement stated that "Fatah's approach to achieving genuine national unity that responds to the higher interests of our people is a national constant that does not waver, because engaging in a comprehensive national dialogue is a national necessity, not a political luxury. However, this unity can only be built on a solid foundation that fulfills the hopes of our people, based on constants and national foundations, foremost among them commitment to the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, along with all its national, political, legal, and international obligations, including commitment to international legitimacy, and the comprehensive Palestinian vision based on the unity of geography, law, political system, and civil and security institutions of the State of Palestine" as stated in its statement.

Fatah confirmed that the Palestinian leadership, headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, is working steadily and responsibly to establish a ceasefire, restore life to the Gaza Strip, and protect the independent national decision within the framework of comprehensive Palestinian legitimacy, and not to allow any party to undermine the unity of the position or infringe upon the constants of the Palestinian national project."
