Trump: The annexation of the West Bank will not happen, and Israel will lose American support if it proceeds with it

SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed to "Time" magazine that the annexation of the West Bank to Israel "will not happen," noting that he promised Arab countries about this during his presidency. He added that Israel will lose American support if it takes this step.

Trump clarified that he informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that "he cannot fight the world" and that he can engage in individual battles, but the world stands against him.

He indicated that Netanyahu should stop because the world would halt him, affirming that Israel was losing its popularity significantly on the international stage.

He continued: "Netanyahu made a grave tactical mistake by attacking Qatar."

On his part, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the West Bank will not be annexed to Israel and that he felt personally offended by the bill approved by the Knesset in its preliminary reading to impose Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.

Vance added in a press conference today, Thursday, during his visit to Israel, that the bill was a "stupid political stunt" and that it "contradicts Israel's commitments to the peace process and international agreements."

The U.S. Vice President affirmed that Washington's message to the Israelis was clear: the need to maintain the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and to avoid any unilateral actions that could reignite tensions.

These statements come a day after the Knesset approved by a majority of 25 votes to 24 opposing a bill to impose Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.
