Trump's Deputy: The West Bank Will Not Be Annexed and the Knesset's Decision is a Silly Trick
SadaNews - J.D. Vance, the U.S. Vice President, stated that the West Bank will not be annexed to Israel, and that he felt personally insulted by the bill that was approved by the Knesset in its preliminary reading to impose Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.
Vance added in a press conference today, Thursday, during his visit to Israel, that the bill was "a silly political trick," and that it "contradicts Israel's commitments to the peace process and international agreements."
The U.S. Vice President confirmed that Washington's message to the Israelis was clear: the need to maintain the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and to refrain from taking any unilateral steps that could reignite tensions.
Vance's statements come one day after the Knesset approved by a majority of 25 votes to 24 against a bill to impose Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.
